A New Year's Message from Mike Harmon

Well, another year has past. However, this year has seemed to be just a bit sweeter than most. The Republican Party has made great strides both nationally and locally.

I and my family are very grateful for all the support we have received, not only for the election which brought the most recent victory, but also for those who helped to lay the groundwork in the two prior elections. Ernie Fletcher told me once that you learn more from defeat than victory. He is quite right. For many of the same people that cheered as the results came in on election night, also cried with us when we lost the previous elections. We must never, never, never give up. If we give up the fight, we will never know if victory was but a moment away.

With every New Year comes a new challenge, and this is my challenge to all Republicans, myself included: With the Governor's race coming, this is the perfect opportunity to change the registration of all those Democrats who say they cannot vote in a primary if they register Republican. The Republican Party has several very good candidates, and this will be the year that, if you fail to register Republican, you will not be able to choose the next Governor. Oh yes, I know that there are several hopefuls on the Democratic ticket as well, but I believe most know that our next Governor will be a Republican.

So if you have friends who are Democrats who have a preference on the Republican ticket, encourage them to change their registration. If any Republican will do, ok. But if not, then they must register Republican to have their voice heard on this issue.

Also, after the primary, we must all stand with our Republican candidate to ensure their victory.

Everyone have a great New Year.

Thank you and God Bless,

Mike Harmon
State Representative-Elect
