Stop back for a new message from our County Chairman

2002 Message:

In 2000, the Boyle County Republican Party played a very important role in helping to elect George W. Bush and Dick Cheney as president and vice-president by the second largest margin in comparison to other states, as well as helping to re-elect Ernie Fletcher to Congress by 18% over his opponent. Republicans in Boyle County also made great showings in the state representative and magistrate races, where Mike Harmon came within 117 votes and Steve Bottas, within 114 votes, of winning. This resurgence of the Boyle County Republican Party was possible due to the large number of people who volunteered and worked endless hours for our cause. But while we look back and feel good that we played a role in restoring honor and dignity to the presidency and retaining our congressional seat, we must not and will not stand still and rest on our laurels. We have only begun, and what a beginning!

Looking ahead, we have much work to do to further our cause. There were no elections in 2001 in Kentucky; however, Republican successes in May and November 2002 will depend on our collective efforts.

To achieve our goals in 2002, Boyle County Republicans will work on the following tasks:

1) Support fellow Republicans running for office in 2002, and pledge to help them.

2) Attend public meetings, such as fiscal court and city commission, to learn the issues and processes. This will be especially beneficial to assist Republican candidates.

3) Urge all who have similar views (friends, neighbors, relatives, spouses, children and parents) to join us by registering as Republicans, with the goal of achieving a balanced two-party system of government in Boyle County.

While there is much work to do, we will also have fun. Numerous events are planned at all levels, state, district, and county. Please watch for announcements of upcoming events through emails, in the Advocate-Messenger, your mailbox, and here at our Webquarters. And, stop by our permanent headquarters located next to the Boyle County Courthouse, 319 West Main Street, Suite 3. We are currently open on Tuesdays and Fridays, 3 pm to 5 pm, and plans are to expand our hours in upcoming months.

In closing, let me say that it is most gratifying to see that the Republican Party —both in Kentucky and Boyle County
— is back!

Thomas W. McClain
Boyle County Republican Party Chairman
