Dear Editor:

On Saturday, I attended a very well received political rally at the beautiful and historic Old Crow Inn in Danville. Having formerly worked for a TV station and knowing that events of this magnitude are normally well covered, I asked, "Where's the local photographer and media?" I couldn't believe my ears when told, "The media was contacted and invited, but they said they don't consider this an event and the news photographer has the day off!"

Since when is the gathering of nearly 400 local citizens been considered "not an event?"

Since when is an event of this magnitude in Boyle County, deemed important enough to garner the personal attention of the United States Republican candidate for president, George W. Bush, "not an event?"

Since when is the attendance of Kentucky's honorable congressmen, Hal Rogers and Ernie Fletcher, as well as Mike Harmon, candidate for Kentucky state representative and other candidates currently running for Kentucky political offices, plus numerous VIP, "not considered an event?"

I only hope our local media representation shows up for the United States vice-presidential debate event on Oct. 5!
